BLACKPINK’s Jennie Delivers Stirring Cover of Lee Hyo-ri’s “Miss Korea” on “The Seasons”

BLACKPINK‘s Jennie showcased her musical skills on a recent episode of Lee Hyo-ri‘s music talk show, ‘The Seasons: Lee Hyo-ri’s Red Carpet,’ with a heartfelt tribute in the form of a cover performance. The K-pop sensation paid homage to the iconic Lee Hyo-ri by presenting a stripped-down rendition of the 2013 single ‘Miss Korea.’

During the performance, Jennie, known for her versatility, infused the jazz-inspired track with her unique style. In a harmonious collaboration, Lee Hyo-ri joined the BLACKPINK star on stage, lending their voices to the soulful outro. The lyrics, “Are others’ eyes so important? / Does it feel like my fault for ruining things? / No, it’s not like that, come here / Everything’s okay, you’re a Miss Korea,” resonated powerfully through their duet.

In addition to the tribute, Jennie also treated the audience to a live rendition of her solo single ‘You & Me,’ officially released in October 2023. The song had been a staple in her performances during BLACKPINK’s ‘Born Pink’ world tour, which commenced in 2022.

Beyond the musical showcase, Jennie opened up about the recent establishment of her label, Odd Atelier, signaling a new chapter in her solo career. The singer expressed her desire for “more freedom and ease for my solo activities” and emphasized her commitment to unrestricted artistic expression with her long-time crew by her side.

“My long-time crew joined me on this journey. With them, I want to do all my future work without any limitations,” she revealed. “The name shows my desire to do well in my future works, even if the path I take is odd or different.”
