Billie Eilish is embracing her love for all things Barbie as she eagerly shares her upcoming song release for the Greta Gerwig-directed film starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
Taking to her Instagram Story, the “Bad Guy” singer, now 21, posted throwback photos showcasing her childhood Barbie-themed birthday party and the excitement of opening a Barbie castle on a Christmas morning. One standout from her celebration was a pink-and-yellow Barbie cake with five layers of yellow cake and chocolate frosting.
In another post, Eilish teased her Barbie-themed song with the caption “What Was I Made For?” She also shared a photo on her feed featuring a “B” designed in Barbie-logo lettering, with the song title written across the top.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Eilish wrote in the caption, “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! What Was I Made For?? COMING OUT JULY 13 AT 7AM PT. !!!!!!!!!!”. The seven-time Grammy winner proceeded to provide more details about her contribution to Barbie the Album, which is set to release on July 21, coinciding with the film’s theatrical premiere.
Eilish expressed her deep connection to the song and her excitement about being part of the Barbie project. She described the movie as life-changing and hoped that her song would have a similar impact. Eilish tagged her brother and music producer partner Finneas, acknowledging their collaboration, and playfully warned fans to “GET READY TO SOB.”
Barbie the Album boasts a star-studded lineup, including tracks from Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice, Karol G, Charli XCX, PinkPantheress, Ava Max, Dominic Fike, Khalid, The Kid Laroi, Tame Impala, Haim, Gayle, and Fifty Fifty FIFTY featuring Kali. Additionally, Ryan Gosling, portraying Ken in the film, also performs a song as his character.
