Lady Gaga Concludes Her ‘Jazz & Piano’ Residency in Las Vegas

Lady Gaga bid an emotional farewell to her ‘Jazz & Piano’ concerts at Las Vegas’ Dolby Live Theater inside Park MGM on Saturday, July 6. During the two-hour performance, she hinted at a possible return to the Strip, acknowledged her dad and boyfriend in attendance, and honored her jazz mentor, Tony Bennett. In her final remarks, she teased the audience with, “I can’t believe this is the last time we are going to do this. No, it’s not, we’ll do it again.”

The ‘Jazz & Piano’ run, which started on June 19, featured jazz renditions of Lady Gaga‘s hits like “Paparazzi,” “Born This Way,” and “Bad Romance.” This show allowed fans to appreciate her as a lyricist, drawing from the Great American Songbook and her collaborations with Tony Bennett on albums like “Cheek to Cheek” (2014) and “Love for Sale” (2021).

Opening night saw Gaga and Bennett perform together, with Bennett calling her a lady when others didn’t. The final show maintained many traditions while adding surprises for her fans. The band kicked off the evening with “Luck Be A Lady,” and Bennett, who passed away last July, introduced Gaga via voiceover, keeping his presence in the show.

Throughout the evening, Gaga’s emotional performances, witty banter, and interaction with the crowd highlighted her connection with the audience. She acknowledged her father and boyfriend, adding personal touches to the night.

Gaga’s final performance featured extended solos from her band and a mix of classic and new songs. The show concluded with “Fly Me to the Moon,” performed unamplified, and Gaga expressing her dedication to jazz, promising to continue singing it.

Over its 48 performances, ‘Jazz & Piano’ experienced highs and lows, including a 21-month pause and Bennett’s passing. Despite the challenges, the residency is estimated to have earned over $100 million, making it one of Las Vegas’ top residencies. This fall, Gaga will star as Harley Quinn in “Joker: Folie à Deux” and has teased a forthcoming seventh studio album.
