Global icon Beyoncé has sent waves of excitement through her fanbase, the BeyHive, with the announcement of international screenings for her acclaimed film, ‘Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé.’ On Monday night, fans flocked to Beyoncé’s website after a list of countries surfaced, sparking speculation about additional tour dates for the ‘Renaissance’ tour. The anticipation reached a fever pitch, prompting Beyoncé to take to Instagram on December 19 to clarify that the listed countries were in fact part of the film’s international release strategy.
In a cheeky Instagram post featuring a trailer for the film, Beyoncé humorously acknowledged the fans’ fervor, saying, “Okay, okay, ya’ll didn’t have to break my website. But I told ya’ll, the Renaissance is not over.” The megastar then proceeded to unveil the countries in South America, Europe, East Asia, and Southeast Asia where the film will soon be screened.
‘Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé’ premiered in the United States on December 1, following earlier premieres in Los Angeles and London on November 25 and 30, respectively. Notably, Taylor Swift attended the London premiere, reciprocating the support as both artists showcased their respective tour films. Beyoncé’s film, written, directed, and co-produced by the artist herself, features guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion, and Diana Ross.
Similar to Taylor Swift’s distribution deal, Beyoncé partnered with AMC to release the film, with both parties sharing 50 per cent of the box office earnings. The film debuted impressively, amassing $21 million in ticket sales in North America alone. However, it fell short of Taylor Swift’s opening weekend box office record with ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,’ which earned $92.8 million. Despite a subsequent 77 per cent drop at the US box office in its second week, ‘Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé’ significantly contributed to the artist’s financial success.
Recent reports claim that Beyoncé’s net worth has now reached $800 million, a testament to the film’s impact on her overall revenue. The ‘Renaissance’ tour, associated with the film, generated a staggering $579 million in revenue. In a recent milestone, Beyoncé also celebrated the release of her 2013 self-titled album by officially making the track ‘Grown Woman’ available on streaming platforms.
