In an eagerly awaited announcement, the Professional Fighters League (PFL) revealed the lineup for the 2023 PFL Challenger Series Lightweight division, setting the stage for an intense battle for supremacy. The Challenger Series, a pivotal platform for emerging MMA athletes, kicked off on January 27, exclusively streaming on Fubo Sports, the live, free-to-consumer TV network from FuboTV Inc.

Held against the backdrop of Universal Studios Florida in Orlando, Florida, the Challenger Series provided fighters with the chance to earn a shot at the coveted world championship and a substantial $1 million winner’s purse. Across eight thrilling nights, fighters showcased their skills and determination, captivating audiences worldwide.

Among the highlights of the Lightweight card was the main event showdown between Elvin Espinoza and Damir Ferhatbegovic, promising a clash of titans inside the PFL SmartCage. Adding to the excitement, the co-main event featured a compelling battle between two Brazilian fighters, Mandel Sousa and Paulo Henrique. Sousa, a rising star with an unblemished finish rate, squared off against Henrique, set to make history as the first deaf fighter to officially compete under the PFL banner.

The action-packed card also showcased matchups such as Australia’s Antonio Caruso taking on Anthony Romero from Canada, and Americans Charlie Decca and Jose Aguayo locking horns in a battle of skill and determination.

Throughout the series, winners were determined by a distinguished judging panel comprising combat sports champions and celebrity guests, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the proceedings.
