Adele’s Las Vegas residency “Weekends With Adele” is not over yet, as the singer has announced an extension of 34 new dates at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Adele’s residency, which began in November 2022, was initially postponed in January 2022 due to COVID and supply-chain issues. In July 2022, the residency was rescheduled, and now it has been extended until November 2023.
On March 25, 2023, during what was supposed to be her final show, Adele announced that her upcoming June dates would be recorded and released as a concert special. “Playing to 4,000 people for 34 dates is not enough, and I know that,” she said. “So I am coming back for a few weeks in June, and I’m going to release it to make sure anyone who wants to see this show can see it.”
Adele was devastated when she had to postpone the first series of shows, just days before she was scheduled to perform in January 2022. “I’m gutted — I’m sorry it’s so last minute; we’ve been awake for over 30 hours trying to figure it out, and we’ve run out of time,” she said in a tearful Instagram video announcement. Half her crew had contracted COVID, and supply-chain issues had created insurmountable obstacles to delivering a perfect show. “I’m so upset, and I’m really embarrassed and so sorry to everyone that traveled to get [to the show]. I’m really, really sorry.”
In an interview with Elle, Adele admitted that the postponement was the worst moment in her career, but it also made her a more confident artist. “The first couple of months was really, really hard,” she said. “I was embarrassed. But it actually made my confidence in myself grow, because it was a very brave thing to do. And I don’t think many people would have done what I did. I’m very proud of myself for standing by my artistic needs.”
Adele’s Vegas residency has been a journey for the singer, but it has been worth it. Fans who want to catch her live can purchase tickets for the new 2023 dates of her residency.
