What motivated you to write “The More,” a song about the challenges of making choices and the possibility of losing connections?
“The More” is an expression on how life can take two people in two different directions. Leaving to go to college or even to pursue your hopes and dreams. A bittersweet moment as you are trying to grow as a person, and you sometimes have to leave the ones you love and care about in order to do so. Expressing how you don’t want the feelings to “fade away” while you are doing so.
Have you personally faced a similar situation where you had to choose between your career aspirations and important relationships in your life?
Graduating high school last year and going through these similarities is the reason I was inspired with the concept with this single.
What’s the most unusual place you’ve drawn inspiration from for one of your songs, and how did it translate into your music?
I wouldn’t think my spot is unusual, but I get a whole lot of ideas in the bathroom…lol. If I’m getting ready in the morning or even taking a shower, a concept can come to mind. Even if I’m somewhere else, I’ll write a note down with ideas.
What has been the most challenging part of your journey as a female artist and how have you overcome it?
I would say the vulnerability aspect because I am a very private person. As I am growing, I am understanding that in life, we go through things, and we are not alone. My overcoming this is the fact that I can share my creativity with my fans and to express that we are all in this together in hope that my music inspires the world to overcome any obstacles or challenges that come your way and to keep pushing through it all.
How do you balance the creative process of making music with the business side of the industry?
My balance is my team! My mom who manages me and teaming up with Young Dreamers and Vector Management with my last few projects. It’s definitely important to have a team that has your best interest at heart which allows me to focus more on the creative side.
Can you give us a hint about what we can expect from your upcoming EP? You’d mentioned before that it will be released this summer.
Well, let’s say it’ll be great, and you have to stay tuned!! You can expect a more vulnerable Jade. I might have a more upbeat song to vibe out to like my previous single “Pull Up”. More growth for sure!
What do you consider to be your biggest achievement as an artist so far, and what goals do you have for the future?
I would say all the love and support I’ve been receiving from the listeners. As a creator, we are in our head a whole lot and we want to present something that our fans can relate to and enjoy. I want my music to give that story, to feel the emotion and to vibe out to it. Music is my therapeutic outlet, and I would hope to inspire by sharing my vision.
