After Rihanna’s performance at the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show at the State Farm Arena in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday night, Karol G finally got to meet her idol. “As a Fan, I have to say that this was the HIGHLIGHT of my entire life!!!,” the Colombian singer captioned an Instagram post. “I hope that when you guys meet your idols, they will be as amazing as she was with me. I LOVE YOU @badgalriri.”
In addition to a brief video of Karol teaching Riri some Colombian lingo, the post includes three images of the two performers grinning and hugging one another backstage. “Hey Riri, how was everything?” Karol asks the Barbadian singer, to which she responds, “fue una chimba!” (“it was amazing!”)
After Rihanna’s approximately 15-minute stint at SBLVII, the two performers shared a tender moment. Riri revealed she was expecting her second child while performing a medley of some of her best songs, including “Bitch Better Have My Money,” “Umbrella,” “Diamonds,” and “Only Girl (In the World).” She did this while wearing a figure-hugging crimson dress. In May 2022, the musician and her partner A$AP Rocky had their first kid.
The rendezvous behind the scenes was Karol’s fantasy come true. She received a tattoo on her arm in 2018 honoring Selena Quintanilla, Rihanna, and herself, three of her favorite singers and major influences. She has stated on several occasions that Rihanna is her ideal collaborator. Karol shared a black-and-white fan art of her and RihRih in 2020, and by doing so, she manifested meeting RihRih in real. She captioned the image, “Haters will say it’s photoshopped.”
