Ruelle is a Nashville-based pop artist and songwriter with over 500,000,000 streams on Spotify alone for her solo work.
Her numbers are boosted by her truly impressive sync licensing catalogue (you can look at some of her credits here, including the Shadowhunters theme song), making her one of Billboard’s top sync licensing artists 4 years in a row (2018-2022).
You can genuinely hear her on TV every night, with major ad campaigns (Apple, Microsoft, Google, Ralph Lauren, etc) and placements on every major network (Netflix, Hulu, HBO, BBC, etc).
Aside from her artist project, some of her collaborations include features on NF’s Perception that debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and went platinum; and guest spots on Dave’s concept album, PSYCHODRAMA, which won the Mercury Prize and Album of the Year at the 2020 Brit Awards.
This new track is a cut from Ruelle’s forthcoming 5-song EP, out this year.
It was co-written with Tofer Brown (Cher Lloyd, Lady A), Daniella Mason (Nick Jonas), and Robert Marvin (Tove Lo, Adam Lambert), who also wrote most of the new album with her.
Being so online, most of us never take the time to go beneath the surface and dig deep in our connections anymore, and this track is all about committing to do the work in your personal relationships— being “in it” for good in our friendships, romances, etc.
The new record is also a shift in sound and perspective for her.
Her past material has always been a bit dark and mysterious with cinematic sounds and broad themes, but these new tracks are her opening up about her personal life for the first time.
Interestingly, it seems that talking about her intimate experiences with marriage, friends, family, and even the music industry evolved into a lighter, electropop sound for the generally elusive artist.
