Health Concerns Force Shakira to Cancel Peru Concert: What You Need to Know

Shakira was hospitalized in Lima, Peru, due to an abdominal issue, leading to the cancellation of her concert scheduled for February 16 at the Estadio Nacional. The Colombian singer was admitted to the Delgado Clinic in the early hours of the morning.

In a statement posted on social media, Shakira said she had to “go to the emergency room” for an abdominal condition. The doctors advised her that she wasn’t in a condition to perform that night.

She expressed her sadness for not being able to perform and reunite with her Peruvian audience. Shakira also mentioned that her team is working to reschedule the show. She had previously shared images showing her interactions with enthusiastic fans upon her arrival in Peru.

The singer’s hospitalization occurred shortly after she kicked off her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour on February 11 in Brazil. The tour supports her Grammy-winning album of the same name, which revolves around her split from Gerard Piqué. Shakira recently won her fourth Grammy for the album.

Shakira’s “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour includes upcoming concerts in Barranquilla, Medellin, and Bogota, Colombia, as well as dates in Chile, Argentina, Mexico, and various cities in the United States and Canada. Her next show in Lima was slated for February 17. The tour is scheduled to continue in the United States on May 13 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
