Taylor Swift Takes Lead in 2024 MTV Video Music Award Nominations

Taylor Swift is poised to expand her collection of Moonmen with a strong showing in the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards nominations. Swift leads the pack with 10 nominations, largely due to her hit “Fortnight,” a collaboration with Post Malone from her Tortured Poets Department album. The video is a strong contender for Video of the Year, giving Swift a shot at her fifth win in this category. She’s also up for Artist of the Year, while “Fortnight” has earned nods for Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, and various technical categories. Post Malone follows closely with nine nominations, including Best Collaboration for his hit with Morgan Wallen, “I Had Some Help.” Ariana Grande, Eminem, and first-time nominee Sabrina Carpenter each received six nominations.

The Video of the Year category is packed with competition, featuring Swift’s “Fortnight,” Eminem‘s “Houdini,” Grande‘s “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love),” Billie Eilish‘s “Lunch,” Doja Cat’s “Paint the Town Red,” and SZA’s “Snooze.” For Song of the Year, contenders include “Fortnight,” Carpenter‘s “Espresso,” Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me,” Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” and Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control.”

In the Artist of the Year category, Swift will compete against Grande, Eminem, Carpenter, Bad Bunny, and SZA. Best New Artist nominees are Benson Boone, Chappell Roan, Gracie Abrams, Shaboozey, Teddy Swims, and Tyla. This year’s VMAs have 29 first-time nominees, with many receiving multiple nods, such as Carpenter, Teddy Swims, Benson Boone, Tyla, Chappell Roan, Jelly Roll, Sexxy Red, Victoria Monét, Murph, and Rauw Alejandro. Other notable first-time nominees include Morgan Wallen, Burna Boy, Coco Jones, Gracie Abrams, Gunna, Playboi Carti, Raye, and Tyler Childers.

Fans can start voting for most of the 2024 VMA categories today on the VMA website, with voting open until August 30. Best New Artist voting will continue during the show itself. The 2024 VMAs will air live on September 10 from the UBS Arena near New York City. Here’s a full list of nominations:
