Love You Once, Love You Twice” has officially dropped today, and it’s already lighting up playlists with its infectious energy and country-pop twist. We’re here with Oda Rose to break it all down—how the song came to life, the inspiration behind it, and what it means to her. With its irresistible hooks and uplifting vibe, this track is poised to become a fan favorite. Let’s dive into the heart of it all with Oda herself!

Your new single, “Love You Once, Love You Twice,” blends modern pop with country influences. Can you share what inspired this fusion and how it reflects your artistic evolution?

I wanted to create a song with a touch of country because lately, I’ve been inspired by talented country artists from the U.S. A lot of that inspiration came from TikTok, and I’ve noticed that country music is becoming increasingly popular in Norway as well. Recently, I’ve felt a desire to explore more acoustic sounds, and that’s when the idea struck me to experiment with the country side of my artistry.

The track features a vibrant, upbeat sound with lyrics celebrating the joy of love. What personal experiences or emotions did you draw from when writing this song?

I wanted to capture the feeling of being newly in love, the kind of intoxicating joy I felt when I met my husband eight years ago. It’s that head-over-heels feeling that makes you want to be with that person for the rest of your life.

Can you share a favorite lyric or line from “Love You Once, Love You Twice,” and explain why it stands out to you personally?

One of my favorite lines is: “a slice of birthday cake, every single damn day.” The love I’m singing about gives you that same joyful feeling that birthday cake does, every single day. And who doesn’t love birthdays and cake? Personally, I’m a big fan of both!

Collaborating with songwriters Gerrit, Emma, and Natalie, how did each of their contributions shape the final sound of “Love You Once, Love You Twice”?

We formed a fantastic team and quickly found our groove with the song. I showed them some reference tracks and suggested a theme to write about. Natalie excels at crafting sweet, detailed lyrics; Emma has an incredible talent for creating catchy, recognizable melodies; and Gerrit handled the production, bringing the song to life with creative ideas and various instruments. It was such a fun day in the studio.

Your music has been compared to artists like Taylor Swift and the hit series Nashville. How do you feel about these comparisons, and in what ways do you think your music stands out from these influences?

I love Taylor Swift, especially her country era. I recently went to her concert in Stockholm, and it was amazing. What I admire most about her is how she embraces different styles in each of her musical phases. In just one concert, you get to experience the rock, pop, sassy, polished, grand, and acoustic sides of Taylor. It’s inspired me to realize that you can do anything with music—it should reflect who you are, and as people, we’re always evolving. So why not release a country song if that’s what you’re feeling? And maybe a year from now, I’ll want to be a country-rock star. Who knows?

As for Nashville, I think the show captures the heart of what country music is all about—the storytelling, the deep emotions, and the blend of tradition with modern influences. I take that same approach with my music, blending country’s sincerity with pop’s catchy and vibrant sound. While I’m honored by the comparison, I think my music stands out by being uniquely personal, constantly evolving alongside my own life experiences.

You gained significant attention from your performance on Norwegian Idol and your involvement in Eurovision. How have these experiences influenced your music career and the creation of this new single?

Both were incredible experiences that really pushed me as an artist. They’ve certainly helped me get to the point where I can make a living solely from music. The only downside was that both Idol and Eurovision were heavily impacted by the pandemic. Both seasons had little to no live audiences, and interacting with fans outside of social media was challenging. It was also difficult to organize concerts afterward because of all the uncertainty. I hope to participate in Eurovision again, but next time, I’d love to have a full audience!

With your plans to participate in songwriter camps and the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, what are some of your key goals for the future, and how do you envision your music evolving in the coming years?

My biggest goal is to participate in Eurovision—and win! I’ll continue to release pop-country tracks, and I’m excited to see how my sound evolves as I grow older. I also have a dream of going to Nashville to write music. That would be an amazing experience.

Can you share any behind-the-scenes moments or fun facts about the making of “Love You Once, Love You Twice” that fans might find interesting?

When we were writing the song, we also choreographed a line dance and recorded it. We were at a songwriting camp in Sweden, dancing in front of a field, and right as we started filming, a group of cows walked over and stood right behind us. It was hilarious!

Your DIY wedding day TikTok videos have become quite popular. How do you see your social media presence influencing your music career, and do you plan to incorporate more personal elements into your future work?

I definitely see my social media presence as a way to connect with others who share my interests. I try to be more personal on social platforms so that my fans can really get to know me. Right now, I’m sharing my “gut health” journey with my Norwegian followers on TikTok, and by doing so, I hope to help others discover what changes they can make to their diet for better health.

What do you want people to remember your music for?

I want my music to resonate with people emotionally, to make them feel something. Whether it’s joy, excitement, sadness, or the comfort of knowing they’re not alone in their feelings, I hope my music can be a part of different moments in their lives. I want it to be relatable and touch on both the highs and the more difficult emotions we all experience.
