ASAP Rocky continues his collaboration with Bottega Veneta, this time featuring alongside his young sons, Riot Rose, who is 10 months old, and RZA, aged 2, in a special Father’s Day campaign. This project was led by Bottega Veneta‘s creative director, Matthieu Blazy, and renowned artist Carrie Mae Weems, who handled the photography.
Titled “Portraits of Fatherhood,” the campaign debuted on Father’s Day, showcasing a series of photographs and a video that highlights the intimate moments of fatherhood. Alongside this release, Rocky has also been named the newest brand ambassador for Bottega Veneta.
Carrie Mae Weems expressed her connection to the project, noting, “Rocky‘s role as a father, particularly as an African American, struck a chord with me. The representation of the Black family has often been misrepresented throughout history. This campaign offered a chance to portray a genuine and positive image – one that reflects Rocky’s personal experiences and extends to a wider societal context. After witnessing numerous injustices faced by Black men, tied to their masculinity, it is profound to depict Rocky in a loving role with his sons. The opportunity to convey this genuine narrative through our work was truly motivating.”
Matthieu Blazy shared his admiration for Weems’ work, recalling his first encounter with her photography during his student years. “Her work’s originality, commitment, and social relevance deeply impressed me. Her powerful messages have stayed with me over the years. Having her capture Rocky‘s journey into fatherhood, highlighting what it means in today’s context, was an honor. The photographs vividly capture Rocky’s tender moments with his children, showcasing his realness not just as a public figure but as a man and a father. The intimacy of these images is what stands out most prominently.”
