Shakira’s “Puntería” featuring Cardi B has been named the official song for TelevisaUnivision’s 2024 Copa America CONMEBOL coverage. The Colombian singer announced the news herself at the network’s Upfronts in New York City on Tuesday (May 14).
The tournament will take place from June 20 to July 14 in the United States, featuring 16 teams from CONMEBOL and CONCACAF.
“It’s the biggest soccer event of the year, and we believe this song will be the anthem of the summer for fans globally,” Shakira stated after revealing the news, as reported by EFE. “It reflects the strength of our culture and music.”
Released on March 22, “Puntería” is the lead single from the artist’s latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. The energetic electro-pop track has gained significant popularity, making an impact on various music charts.
Shakira’s music has been featured in soccer tournaments before, with “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” serving as the official anthem for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
