Leah Marie Mason, the Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and artist, debuts her latest single, “YOUR BOYFRIEND SUCKS,” today across all major streaming platforms. Departing from her country roots, Mason embraces a vibrant pop sound in this release, marking a significant shift in her musical journey.
Collaborating with esteemed songwriter Sara Bares and songwriter/producer Simon Jonasson, known for his work with artists such as Summer Walker, HWASA, and Alan Walker, Mason delivers a catchy and relatable anthem celebrating the significance of honest and empowering female friendships.
Inspired by real-life experiences, Mason explains the motivation behind the track: “I have this stunning, gorgeous, smart, outgoing, funny as hell friend that had been seeing this guy for a few months, and it felt like every week I heard her tell me the most awful stories about how he treated her. I was always so confused as to WHAT her infatuation with him was because he… sucked! She is THE best person and friend and she deserves to be treated that way! The song is brutally honest but I believe it’s for the better because that’s what a real friend does.”
Originally from North Carolina and now based in Nashville, Mason’s musical journey began at the age of eleven, performing iconic covers in a classic rock band. Since then, she has evolved as an artist, drawing inspiration from Nashville’s diverse music scene. Her 2023 debut EP, Honeydew & Hennessy, achieved significant success, garnering millions of streams.
Venturing beyond her comfort zone, Leah Marie traveled to Sweden last year to work on her upcoming album, exploring new artistic territories and refining her sound. Despite this evolution, Mason remains committed to her signature style of raw and vulnerable storytelling.
