Normani Confirms Debut Album Release in 2024: “The Best I’ve Ever Made”

Normani, the Atlanta-based singer and former Fifth Harmony member, has officially announced that her highly anticipated debut album is set to be released this year. The revelation came during her appearance at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where she promoted her feature film debut, Freaky Tales.

In an exclusive interview on the red carpet, Normani shared insights into her upcoming music projects. “Yes, [there will be new music],” she affirmed. “The singles have changed – I will definitely say that – and you guys won’t know when it’s coming. I’m so excited! I mean, the artwork is fire.”

When questioned about the release date of her debut album, Normani responded, “Yeah – girl, I want this [album] to come out just as bad as you do.” She went on to dispel any misconceptions about the delay, emphasizing her eagerness for the project to see the light of day. “I want this project to come out more than, literally, anybody. But, it’s literally the best music I’ve ever made, and I could be more proud. I know that – once it comes out – you guys are gonna be like, ‘Yeah. The wait was worth it.’”

Despite initial expectations for her debut album to arrive years ago, Normani expressed her excitement during the 2021 Soul Train Awards, declaring that the “summer’s gonna be lit.” However, the album’s release did not materialize in 2022, leading to widespread speculation about its eventual unveiling.

Normani, who rose to fame as part of the immensely successful girl group Fifth Harmony, has been building her solo career since the group’s indefinite hiatus in 2017. Notable achievements include the platinum success of her collaboration with Khalid, ‘Love Lies,’ and the viral solo single ‘Motivation’ in 2019, co-written by Ariana Grande.

In addition to her solo endeavors, Normani has collaborated with industry heavyweights such as Megan Thee Stallion on ‘Diamonds’ and contributed vocals to Cardi B‘s ‘Wild Side’ and Calvin Harris‘ ‘Next To You.’ Her 2021 release, ‘Fair,’ showcased her evolving artistry.
