Lil Nas X Unveils Y2K-Inspired Capsule Collection in Collaboration with Coach

Lil Nas X and Coach have joined forces for a vibrant Y2K-inspired capsule collection, aptly named “The Lil Nas X Drop.” The 24-year-old rapper actively curated and customized pieces from the Coach Winter 2023 collection, showcasing his unique style and personal touch.

The collaboration, announced on Tuesday (Dec. 19), features an array of items, including brightly colored shearling coats, bags, shoes, and other designs. These pieces not only reflect elements from the Coach Winter 2023 collection but also incorporate graphics inspired by Lil Nas X’s tour merchandise and personal symbols, such as his pet cat and zodiac sign (Aries). The rapper’s influence extends beyond curation, as he takes center stage in the accompanying photo and video campaign, emphasizing the bold color palette and Y2K aesthetic.

Collaborating closely with Coach’s creative director, Stuart Vevers, Lil Nas X brings a fresh perspective to the Winter collection. Vevers explained the inspiration behind the collaboration, stating, “Our Winter collection is inspired by my belief that fashion is about exploring and celebrating all of who you are. To create the collection, we twisted the Coach archives and were also inspired by Lil Nas X’s connection to music and nightlife.”

The evolution of heritage styles from the previous runway season is evident in the amplified use of color, texture, and graphics, creating pieces that celebrate individuality and authentic self-expression. The limited drop of “The Lil Nas X Drop” is set to be available on Tuesday, Dec. 26, accessible through Coach.com and select stores.

Having embraced the role of Coach ambassador since last year, Lil Nas X continues his collaboration with the brand, having previously adorned custom Coach designs during his Montero tour. For those looking to make holiday purchases, Coach is offering a final opportunity for overnight shipping, with the deadline set for Wednesday, Dec. 20. Additionally, shoppers can explore in-store pickup options and take advantage of discounts of up to 50% on fan-favorite items like the Soft Tabby Shoulder Bag and the Ruby Satchel.
