Charli XCX teases upcoming track “Von Dutch” with a sneak peek on TikTok

Charli XCX has offered a glimpse into her upcoming track, ‘Von Dutch,’ sharing a 20-second snippet on social media. In a TikTok post, she playfully remarked, “Good thing I didn’t switch labels!” with the accompanying clip of the song. The video’s caption cheekily reads, “I’m bored here’s the new song :).”

The snippet showcases Charli XCX’s distinctive vocals over an infectious, high-energy arrangement. She sings, “You’re obsessin’, just confess it / Cuz it’s obvious / I’m your number one,” delivering a preview that hints at the potential success of ‘Von Dutch.’ This track may serve as the lead single for Charli’s eagerly anticipated sixth studio album, with details about the album yet to be disclosed. Her last album, ‘Crash,’ was released in 2022.

Since the release of ‘Crash,’ Charli XCX has treated fans to various singles, including the widely acclaimed ‘Speed Drive,’ a standout hit from the summer. Crafted as part of the soundtrack for Greta Gerwig‘s popular film ‘Barbie,’ the song featured an interpolation of Toni Basil’s classic ‘Mickey.’ More recently, she collaborated with Sam Smith on the track ‘In The City,’ a project where her fiancé George Daniel of The 1975 also contributed.

Charli and Daniel’s professional collaboration began in 2021 when they joined forces to record ‘Spinning.’ Their working relationship blossomed into a romantic one, confirmed on social media last year, culminating in their engagement announcement in November.

Charli XCX has exciting plans for a return to Boiler Room on February 22, joined by Daniel, A.G. Cook, and Easyfun. The British singer’s last Boiler Room performance in 2020, where she live-streamed songs from the pandemic-inspired album ‘How I’m Feeling Now,’ garnered positive attention. Charli XCX has also been reportedly contributing to the upcoming Britney Spears album.
