Markarian designer Alexandra O’Neill kicks off the fashion week with a stunning collection that’s both timeless and timely. “Inaugural blue tweed coat and dress she designed for Dr. Jill Biden became part of the Smithsonian. For the dedication ceremony, the First Lady wore another custom Markarian look,” Harper’s Bazaar reported.
“My grandmother taught me how to sew, but my grandfather was a designer too. They lived in Astoria but they used to go out dancing at nightclubs in the city like Café Zanzibar. And whenever they were going out at night, he would have her stand on their kitchen table and he would drape a dress on her for her to go out in, which is I think so cute.”
