South African pop sensation Tyla has been steadily widening her global footprint, and now she’s made her boldest move yet: a surprise EP titled WWP, released without warning via FAX Records and Epic Records.
The five-track project includes previously released singles “Bliss” and “Is It,” the latter of which dropped earlier this month with a glossy visual. But the standout is “Dynamite,” a collaboration with Nigerian Afropop superstar Wizkid that’s been years in the making. Recorded in 2022 and shelved for nearly three years, “Dynamite” finally arrives as a sultry, slow-burning anthem that fuses Tyla’s signature vocal shimmer with Wizkid’s laid-back charisma. According to Tyla, the delay was due to scheduling and unfinished sessions, but the track’s release feels serendipitous.
On WWP, Tyla sounds more confident and experimental than ever—playing with dreamy textures, minimalist R&B production, and pan-African rhythms. The EP doesn’t overstay its welcome; it distills her evolving artistry into a tight package that’s as danceable as it is emotionally tuned-in.
Tyla’s breakout may have been global, but WWP reminds us she’s just getting started.
