Kara Major Drops Empowering New Anthem “Can’t Control Me”

What do you get when you mix EDM adrenaline, spiritual defiance, and the raw energy of a national boxing champion turned sonic revolutionary? You get Kara Major — and she’s not here to play nice. She’s here to blow the lid off every limitation you thought you had.

With her new single “Can’t Control Me,” Kara doesn’t just drop a track—she drops a truth bomb. It’s a full-throttle anthem for anyone who’s ever felt shackled by society’s expectations, addiction culture, or their own self-doubt. It thunders with festival-sized production, but there’s a deeper force at work—this is spiritual warfare set to a dance beat.

Kara Major follows no rules—she writes her own manual. One where you can be a corporate powerhouse and an unfiltered creative. One where partying doesn’t mean losing your soul and where music can spark both movement and meaning. Inspired by ancient etymology, personal awakenings, and a healthy dose of rebellion, “Can’t Control Me” is more than a song—it’s a dare.

We caught up with Kara to talk about the spirit behind the song (literally), her fight for personal freedom, and how she’s flipping the script on what EDM—and empowerment—really sounds like.

Welcome to Kara Major’s unfiltered era. No apologies. No compromises. And absolutely no control.

Without giving too much away, can you share any themes or messages listeners should expect from “Can’t Control Me”?

I’m excited to say that, for the first time, the message received from this track is something I believe will be different for each listener. For some, it will be a message of fun and liberation; for others, a message of temperance; and for those more spiritually inclined, an aspect of spiritual warfare is presented that will, at the very least, provoke some thought.

What does this single mean to you personally, and how do you hope your audience will connect with it?

For me, this song marks a new chapter in my life. One where a sort of spell has been broken and a happier, healthier, less naive, and more bold and free version of Kara Major has emerged as a result. I can only hope that each listener connects with those same wonderful feelings of freedom and renewal.

How do you hope this single will leave its mark on EDM music?

It is my intention that this track initiates a revolution against anything or anyone keeping us from our most free, fun, loving selves, whether those manipulations are hailing from energies here in the 3d or from the dark forces operating within unseen realms.

How did you decide on this title, and why was it important to capture this feeling of resistance or freedom?

The title reflects exactly how I feel these days. My thoughts are my own; my emotions are regulated. I’m the only one controlling ME, and that is a powerfully free place to be.

Can you share a story or experience that inspired the defiant energy behind “Can’t Control Me”?

A while back, I discovered that the word “alcohol” comes from the Arabic “al-kuhl,” which means “BODY-EATING SPIRIT” and gives root origins to the English term for “ghoul.” I found this to be striking for many reasons and thought it would be interesting to sing a song from the perspective of the spirit that may actually be the true culprit, alluring us to engage in unhealthy, reckless behaviors like excessive drinking and smoking, etc. So funny enough, the defiant energy present isn’t so much mine but rather the entity that may be taking over when we drink. After all, that’s why alcohol is also referred to as “spirits.”

Was there a moment from your early years that directly influenced this track?

After discovering the information listed above, many moments in my past came full circle and contributed to the execution of this project. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched people close to me black out after drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, only to become an absolute nuisance. They would start speaking in unfamiliar tones, acting out of character, and begin making terrible decisions that would haunt them the rest of their lives. It was almost as if they had become someone else completely. After studying the origins of alcohol and the alchemy involved, I not only think they became someone else when intoxicated, but more so “something” else.

In what ways does “Can’t Control Me” challenge societal expectations or norms?

Societal norms tell us to wear masks, hiding who we really are and the activities we enjoy, out of fear of outdated judgments. They tell us that if we choose to have fun in ways considered taboo or extreme, like music festivals, we must be irresponsible people.

They also tell us we are one-dimensional – that we can’t have successful white-collar careers, yet also seriously pursue artistic passions like film, modeling, or music. I’m here to say it’s all lies and pre-programmed limiting beliefs that must be broken. Do what you want, when you want, with whom you want. As long as it’s done responsibly and while not hurting anyone or breaking any laws, do what makes you feel alive and stand UNCONTROLLABLY in your unabashed truth!

In a time when so much of electronic music is driven by data and algorithms, how do you maintain?

It’s all actually quite overwhelming, but thankfully, I have a great marketing team that helps me navigate these things. A true mastermind!
