Seth Rogen ‘s new comedy series, The Studio, is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on March 26, 2025. The series, consisting of 10 episodes, will launch with its first two episodes, followed by weekly releases every Wednesday until May 21.
In The Studio, Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of the fictional Continental Studios. The show explores his struggles to balance corporate demands with creative ambitions while seeking approval from celebrities. Continental Studios, while having some old-fashioned prestige, is struggling in the modern age. Rogen not only stars in the series but also serves as its writer, director, and executive producer, collaborating with his frequent partner Evan Goldberg.
The Studio takes a humorous look at the inner workings of the film industry. The series delves into the challenges faced by Matt and his team as they navigate the changing landscape of entertainment, dealing with narcissistic artists and corporate overlords in their pursuit of making great films. Matt loves movies, but being in charge of making them is not as easy as it looks.
Rogen revealed that the series draws inspiration from real-life experiences, including encounters with executives who seemed intent on ruining the very movies they were meant to support. He noted that while he is worried some people will recognize themselves in the show, those who have been alerted are mostly flattered. One character, played by Bryan Cranston, is inspired by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.
Rogen opted for long tracking shots to create an immersive experience that captures the chaotic energy of a movie set. He wanted to throw the audience into the unpredictable and uneasy energy of being in rooms with people yelling at each other.
