Scarlett Johansson Becomes Highest-Grossing Actor of All Time

Scarlett Johansson has officially cemented her status as a Hollywood titan. With the roaring success of Jurassic World: Rebirth, Johansson has become the highest-grossing actor of all time, with her films now totaling an astounding $14.8 billion globally, according to Forbes.

The record-breaking feat comes on the heels of Rebirth‘s explosive box office debut — $147.3 million domestically and $318.3 million worldwide since opening just last Wednesday. The seventh installment in the Jurassic Park franchise introduces Johansson as Zora Bennett, a tactical leader navigating a high-stakes mission on a dinosaur-infested island.

Scarlett Johansson’s triumph puts her ahead of fellow Marvel heavyweights Samuel L. Jackson ($14.6B) and Robert Downey Jr. ($14.3B), despite appearing in fewer films (36) compared to Jackson’s 71 and Downey’s 45. Even more impressively, Johansson holds the highest average worldwide gross per film at $405.9 million, compared to Downey’s $318.1 million and Jackson’s $205.7 million.

In an emotional interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Johansson reflected on the milestone and her decade-long dream of joining the Jurassic franchise:

“I’ve been trying to get into a Jurassic movie for, I don’t know, 15 years or something. I was so stoked that it all came together.”

She also revealed that Bryce Dallas Howard, star of the previous Jurassic World trilogy, welcomed her with a heartfelt email:

“She wrote me a whole long email about her experience and how wonderful the fans were… and how that was part of the excitement, joining the Jurassic family.”

At 40, with a career that began at age 10 in North (1994) and peaked with critically acclaimed roles in Lost in Translation, Marriage Story, and her decade-long run as Black Widow, Johansson shows no signs of slowing down.
