Novulent Dares to Go Lower with “New Low”

Novulent is back with “new low,” the lead single from their highly anticipated album VOL.3, out soon via Capitol Records. The track takes listeners on a raw journey through the emotional complexities of staying in a toxic relationship. “The song talks about being so desperate to be with someone that you’ve hit a new low mentally to stay with them,” Novulent shares. “Peeling back their personality, you see how awful they are, but you still stay with them because you’re desperate. It’s like a beautiful poison.”

Known for their genre-defying style, Novulent blends hard rock, shoegaze, and emo influences seamlessly in new low, drawing inspiration from their personal experiences with heartbreak and emotional turmoil. The forthcoming VOL.3 continues Novulent’s exploration of love, pain, and growth—reminiscent of the emotional highs and lows captured in their earlier works, VOL.1 and VOL.2.

For Novulent, music has always been a reflection of personal experience. They’ve described the album as an “emotional journey” and have been vocal about the role of self-reflection in shaping their music. “Every song is a piece of the puzzle,” Novulent says. “The emotions in each track lead to the next, it’s never black and white—always grey.”

Having toured with major artists like WILLOW and Daniel Caesar, Novulent’s solo journey marks a new chapter in their creative career. Their recent headlining tour, capped off with a show at New York City’s Mercury Lounge, was hailed as “gritty yet glistening,” further cementing their place in the indie scene.

When asked about their musical influences, Novulent points to an eclectic mix that includes everything from hard rock to shoegaze and Midwest emo. But their true inspiration, they say, comes from their journey through life—“The highs, the lows, and everything in between.”

As they continue to grow and evolve, Novulent’s fans can expect more of the raw, emotional honesty that has made their music so resonant. “VOL.3 is the next chapter,” they explain. “And it’s just the beginning.”
