Nashville-based alt-pop sensation Caroline Romano has just released her latest single, “Body Bag,” available now across all streaming platforms. The track, a collaboration with producer and co-writer Danen Reed Rector (known for his work with Charlotte Sands, Boys Like Girls, and Betty Who), offers a poignant exploration of growing up and facing the often harsh realities of modern life.
“Body Bag” showcases Romano’s ethereal indie-pop vocals layered over a tapestry of distorted guitars, dynamic percussion, and shimmering synths. Building on the momentum of her recent singles “Doesn’t Matter” and “Used By You,” this new release further highlights Romano’s talent for crafting emotionally charged and anthemic music.
Caroline Romano reflects on the inspiration behind the song, stating, “I always had this picture in my mind of who I would be at this age and what my life would look like, and I always thought it would be shiny, fun, sexy, and exhilarating. I’ve spent the last few years chasing those feelings, but ‘Body Bag’ is a peak behind the curtain at the reality of modern romance and feeling young and old at the same time. It’s running barefoot on the concrete, chasing something you can’t quite put your finger on, but running towards it nonetheless.”
At just 22, Romano has already made a significant impact with her ability to blend introspective ballads with energetic alt-rock anthems. Her debut album, Oddities and Prodigies, and her subsequent EP, A Brief Epic, have solidified her reputation as a rising artist with a unique voice and vision.
Romano’s music vividly captures the tumultuous experience of youth, marked by a mix of raw emotion, hedonism, and self-reflection. Her live performances, known for their high energy, have seen her grace renowned Nashville venues like The Basement East and The End. Recently, she completed her first U.S. tour supporting Grayscale and Smallpools.
