The 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony promises to be a monumental occasion, with a unique twist: it will be held on the Seine River, moving away from the traditional stadium setting.
For the first time since her diagnosis with Stiff Person Syndrome in December 2022, Céline Dion is scheduled to perform. She will be joined by none other than Lady Gaga, setting the stage for an unforgettable musical collaboration.
Speculation about their participation began to circulate earlier this week after both artists were seen in Paris. Lady Gaga was captured greeting her fans from her vehicle in several social media clips.
Variety reported on July 23 that Dion had checked into the Royal Monceau Hotel close to the Champs-Élysées on Monday, where Gaga is also staying.
French journalist Thierry Moreau revealed on X on July 25, just a day before the grand opening of the 2024 Olympics, that Dion and Gaga had practiced a rendition of Édith Piaf’s “La Vie en Rose.” The song, which means “Life in Pink,” was a 1947 hit that became internationally loved, including in the U.S., and has been covered by numerous notable artists such as Andrea Bocelli and Audrey Hepburn.
Lady Gaga is already familiar with this classic French tune, having performed it in her 2018 movie A Star Is Born. The film was a significant success and led Gaga to be the first woman to receive an Academy Award, Grammy, BAFTA, and Golden Globe in the same year.
