Billie Eilish took to social media on Monday to reveal exciting news to her fans: her highly anticipated third studio album is set to drop this spring. Sharing the album cover art, which depicts Eilish submerged underwater, seemingly emerging from a door at the top of the frame, she confirmed that the album, titled “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” will be released on May 17.
In her caption, Eilish expressed her excitement, writing, “MY THIRD ALBUMMMMMMMMMMMMM COMES OUT MAY 17THHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHH” and shared her nervousness and excitement about the upcoming release. The Grammy-winning artist also revealed that, as with her first two albums, her brother Finneas produced the new LP. She made it clear that there won’t be any singles released ahead of the album’s debut, stating, “i wanna give it to you all at once.”
“finneas and i truly could not be more proud of this album and we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it,” she added, expressing her gratitude and love for her fans.
Earlier, Eilish had teased the album with an eerie video showing her descending into dark blue waves, accompanied by a video game-like beat. She had also hinted at a forthcoming announcement on her Instagram Stories.
Leading up to the big reveal, Eilish had teased her fans with cryptic billboards in Los Angeles and New York City, displaying enigmatic messages such as, “She’s the headlights I’m the deer,” and “Did I cross the line?” Additionally, she had recently added all of her Instagram followers to her “Close Friends” Story, where she shared blue-hued artwork and mysterious messages, garnering significant attention and anticipation from her followers.
With the announcement of her new album, Billie Eilish has once again captivated her audience, leaving them eagerly awaiting the arrival of “Hit Me Hard and Soft” on May 17.
