The official trailer for A24’s “MaXXXine” marks Mia Goth‘s return to Ti West’s “X” trilogy, set to conclude with the film’s release on July 5. Following the premieres of “X” and “Pearl” in 2022, “MaXXXine” brings together an ensemble cast including Kevin Bacon, Bobby Cannavale, Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Lily Collins, Halsey, and Giancarlo Esposito.
The film’s synopsis from A24 sets the stage: “In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.”
Goth provided insights into the film in an interview with Variety in January, describing it as the most significant installment of the trilogy, with heightened stakes for Maxine’s character. She emphasized Maxine’s evolution into a formidable force amidst wild adventures.
Ti West and Mia Goth’s horror series commenced with “X,” following a group of amateur filmmakers attempting to produce a porn movie at an isolated cabin. “Pearl,” the prequel, delved into the origin story of the cabin’s owner, tracing her journey from aspiring starlet to embracing her murderous instincts.
Producing the slasher franchise are West, Jacob Jaffke, Harrison Kreiss, and Kevin Turen.
