BLACKPINK’s Jennie Teases a Collab with Brockhampton’s Matt Champion

BLACKPINK‘s Jennie and Brockhampton‘s Matt Champion have given fans a glimpse into their upcoming collaboration, sharing snippets of an unreleased track on their personal Instagram accounts on March 3. The Instagram Stories featured brief clips with audible vocals from both Jennie and Champion, creating anticipation among their followers. The artists tagged each other in their respective Stories.

The teased lyrics from the clips include lines such as “Slowly… trying upside down, you’re my escape… a reality / You know what you mean to me ’cause I’m leaning on my way making my heart cry / Nothing is love.” Despite the sneak peek, details about the official release of the song are yet to be disclosed.

Jennie and Champion first crossed paths at Coachella last year, where BLACKPINK headlined the festival on April 15 and 22, 2023. The K-pop group members were seen socializing with other performers and celebrity guests, creating connections that seem to have led to this collaboration.

The teaser for their unreleased project follows the success of Jennie’s solo debut single ‘Solo,’ whose music video recently surpassed a billion views on YouTube. This achievement solidifies her status as the second K-pop soloist to achieve this milestone, following Psy with ‘Gangnam Style.’ Furthermore, in December 2023, Jennie launched her own music label, Odd Atelier (OA), signaling the beginning of her “solo journey in 2024.” Jennie shared on Instagram that OA is intended to be “a space that aims to create new things that attract attention in a different way from what is usual or expected.”
