Kylie Minogue took the stage at the People’s Choice Awards last night (February 18), held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica and hosted by Simu Liu. The Australian pop icon delivered a live rendition of her massive hit, ‘Padam Padam,’ a track that recently earned her the Best Pop Dance Recording award at the 2024 Grammys, marking her first victory in two decades. She triumphed over tough competition, including Troye Sivan, Calvin Harris, Bebe Rexha, and others.
In addition to Minogue’s performance, Taylor Swift claimed the titles of Female Artist of the Year and Pop Artist of the Year, while Jungkook secured the Male Artist of the Year award.
Minogue, recently revealed as the headliner for London’s BST Hyde Park 2024, expressed her excitement, saying, “I can’t wait to return to BST Hyde Park this summer. My last appearance at this iconic event was in 2015, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. So excited to see you all again!” The pop sensation is also set to receive the BRITs Global Icon award and will perform at the upcoming ceremony next month alongside fellow performers Dua Lipa and Raye.
It was disclosed that Minogue’s viral hit was almost given to Rita Ora, according to the producer Lostboy, who collaborated with Norwegian songwriter Ina Wroldsen on the song. Initially uncertain whether it would be the right fit for Minogue, the track was nearly passed to Rita Ora before ultimately becoming a chart-topping success for the Australian pop star.
