Charli XCX has unveiled her latest single, “Speed Drive,” which will be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming Barbie movie. The track joins the growing lineup of songs from the film, following the recent hit “Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice.
Continuing Charli XCX’s fascination with songs about cars, “Speed Drive” may be short, clocking in at less than two minutes, but it delivers a punch as one of the most energetic tracks on the soundtrack. With electronic melodies and a heavily boosted bass, the pop star dives into the song, paying homage to Toni Basil’s 1981 hit single, “Mickey,” singing, “Oh, Barbie, you’re so fine / You’re so fine you blow my mind.” Listen to the song below.
