Kim Petras has swiftly established herself as a dominant force in the music industry, despite her relatively short time in the spotlight. Recently, she achieved her first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Unholy,” a collaboration with Sam Smith. This groundbreaking achievement also made her the first openly transgender woman to win the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2023 Grammys.
In addition to her chart-topping success, Petras joined forces with Nicki Minaj for the release of “Alone” and made a noteworthy appearance at the highly anticipated 2023 Met Gala. Surprisingly, Petras has achieved all of this and more without even releasing her debut album. However, that is about to change this summer.

On May 15, in a morning post, Petras shared an exciting update: her debut album, titled “Feed The Beast,” is set to be released on June 23. Alongside this announcement, Petras had another surprise in store.
Petras was unveiled as one of the cover stars for the 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, a renowned annual publication. The reveal took place on TODAY, where it was announced that Petras would grace the cover alongside other luminaries such as Martha Stewart, Megan Fox, and Brooks Nader, according to Sports Illustrated. Expressing her excitement, Petras stated, “I was so excited when I got the call to be in Sports Illustrated. It’s very iconic, and a lot of very iconic people have done it before, so [it was a] big dream come true for me.”

Emphasizing the importance of one’s actions rather than their gender or sexuality, Petras shared her hope of inspiring others, stating, “I think what you do is the most important thing, not what your gender is. No matter what your gender or sexuality or any of that stuff is, it’s about what you make of life and it’s about what’s inside of you and all of that, so I hope that can be inspiring to people.”
To commemorate this achievement, Petras will be performing at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood in Hollywood, Florida, on Friday, May 19, in an event presented by Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. Furthermore, fans can catch Petras at the Governors Ball on Friday, June 9.
