New Zealand-based artist, LOVETA, recently dropped her sophomore single “Drive,” which is the ultimate getaway song . With its alluring arrangements and strong powerhouse vocals, the electro-pop track awakens the senses and helps listeners leave their troubles behind.
Lauren Marshall, mostly known as LOVETA, wrote “Drive” inspired “by the feeling of getting away and traveling somewhere new, where all of life’s worries just melt away. The song is about coming out of a period of feeling stuck and chasing what makes you feel happy, alive, and connected.”
The Kiwi singer-songwriter showcases her lyricism and virtuosity by merging old school elements with contemporary beats. “Drive” is a beautiful and uplifting love song that evokes feelings of freedom, happiness, and delight. The lyrics urge listeners to hit the road and run away with a loved one, “I’m ready baby, take me somewhere new/ Don’t need anybody else but us two/Summer feeling and the sky so blue/ Just say the word and I will follow you, anywhere.”
Before releasing “Drive,” LOVETA made her debut in 2021 with Wulfie featuring on “Love Won’t Run Away.” “More Than Fun,” followed after, establishing Marshall as one of the up-and-coming artists to look out for. The multi-genre musician who will drop the anticipated debut EP in the coming months, is highly influenced by ‘60s and ‘70s music and loves to incorporate elements of disco/funk to electro-pop, R&B, and dance music.
