Hi there! We really enjoyed your single and we’d love to ask you some questions about it.
Congratulations on the release of “Messy”! How has the positive feedback from the single affected you?
Thank you so much!! It was a little unexpected but I’m very happy about it 🙂 There was a big element of risk when I decided to release Messy because it differed from a lot of my stuff but the feedback has been crazy!! I also think change is necessary!
How did your unique voice develop over time?
I’ve always been a singer before I even got into songwriting. That was my main instrument and then I started playing the guitar and it was like a whole new world opened up for me. I realized I could be independent with it, songwrite, even perform live as a one man band which is what I did for years! Now I’m going back to the roots a little bit, which is exciting.
Name three artists you admire most.
Oh definitely Prince. I admire his ability to stay relevant for years and evolve within an industry that constantly puts a deadline on an artist’s career. I’m also a huge fan of Daft Punk, they were so innovative and a huge inspiration.
And last but not least John Mayer.
How do you think your environment has influenced your music?
I was lucky enough to grow up with a singer in the family. My Italian Grandfather was a crooner in the 50s and they used to call him Frank like Sinatra 🙂 he was a big inspiration and pushed me to pursue this seriously. I’m also a bit of a music nerd so I grew up spending hours on YouTube finding new stuff to listen to and I like to think my music is a bit of a blend of different genres because of my varied taste!
When did you become aware of your talent as a musician and when did you decide to pursue it?
I have videos of little me singing in front of my family. I remember jumping on top of a restaurant table in Sydney and singing “My Heart will go on” from the Titanic when I was just 6 years old ! ahha. I’ve always known this was what I wanted to do I guess.
The moment where everything changed for me was when I moved to Sydney and started working with a producer there, that was the turning point when I realized I could turn it into a career.
