Juan Minatta is an Argentinian singer-songwriter who launched his career in music in 2019. His latest release is “best of me”, a track that submerges itself in shades of empowerment and self-realization by letting go of the ghost of a past relationship. The artist is committed to delight audiences across the globe with his debut EP in 2022.

When did you realize you had a vocal gift?
I always knew I wanted to explore something music-related. I would look for karaoke videos on YouTube to perform in my bedroom and later on, I decided to go ahead and start posting covers on my Instagram page. These were met with a good response and as time passed, I started exploring my voice a little more and looking for my own sound.
What sparked your desire to become an artist?
Since I was a kid, music has always been an important part of my life. My grandad used to be the singer in a band he formed along with some of his friends so seeing him perform and make music played a huge part in making me want to pursue a career in music.
Tell us more about “best of me”,what inspired you to record this new song, and what’s the meaning behind it?
Basically, the song is about choosing to protect oneself after going through a difficult situation with a person who becomes a lost cause. Coming from a personal experience, I wanted the track to evoke the emotion of seeking relief. We did the whole song overnight, it was going to be just a demo at first but then we decided to leave those takes on the final record as it captures that feeling perfectly.
What is your most memorable moment as an artist?
To date, I think one of the most memorable moments I had was when I released my first single “Run Away”. I was a little nervous to put it out at first but then when the release day came and it started receiving a warm reception, I got very happy and excited for everyone to hear the new music.
How would you define your music genre and style?
There’s usually a quest in my music that makes the process enjoyable and reflexive at the same time and that allows me to stay honest with myself and with those who listen. I believe that there’s always a shared truth behind every experience so my goal is to connect with my audience and the style of each song is usually determined by that principle.
Who are some of the artists that have influenced you the most?
Songwriting-wise one of my main influences is Julia Michaels. She has penned some of the biggest songs of the 2010s and I think her storytelling is unique.
What’s next for Juan Minatta in 2022?
I’m currently working on an EP, with influences in Pop and Alternative. In this upcoming project, I’m looking to explore new musical and conceptual horizons and it’ll be released sometime this year under Backbeat Records, the label I founded with Ludaca and Micaela Blue in 2021.
